Impact Capital Managers (ICM) is a rapidly growing network of the general partners of private capital funds investing for impact and financial return. Its purpose is to strengthen and grow the practice of market-rate impact investing in the US and Canada; its mission is to accelerate the performance of its members. ICM was launched in 2018 and has received funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Ford Foundation, and Surdna Foundation. Its 40+ members collectively represent over $10B in impact-focused capital. ICM’s activities are organized according to the following priorities:

  • connecting and convening members to one another, to deals, and to stakeholders in the broader ecosystem;
  • identifying and sharing best practices in areas directly relevant to performance, such as impact management;
  • advocating for members through education, research, and policy initiatives (see The Alpha in Impact report, https://tideline.com/the-alpha-in-impact-white-paper/, co-produced with Tideline); and
  • developing a skilled, diverse investor workforce through talent and leadership development programs and partnerships

The Associate, full-time and based in New York, will work to advance these priorities as well as provide operations support to the Executive Director. As the second full-time employee at ICM this individual will have an opportunity to learn firsthand about every aspect of operations, build a valuable network, shape the role and organization, and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help ICM reach concrete milestones for the priorities above
  • Design, coordinate, and run quality events, webinars, and other programs for members and stakeholders, including an annual 2-day member conference hosted at an academic partner institution
  • Complete ICM’s member directory and develop a resource handbook for members; update membership and contacts using CRM system
  • Communicate with ICM members, particularly concerning membership renewals, onboarding, surveys, events, and other critical workstreams; help design & send the monthly member newsletter
  • Update the website www.impactcapitalmanagers.com and post to social media when appropriate; launch and run ICM podcast series
  • Conduct research related to the membership pipeline and stay informed of trends and stakeholders in the impact space
  • Work with external contractors and/or professional service providers as required to support ICM’s daily operations
  • Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors with grant reporting, organizing meetings and calls, and taking notes

Requirements

We are seeking candidates who have:

  • An authentic interest in the potential of private capital to create positive social and environmental impact
  • Comfort taking on a high level of responsibility; an entrepreneurial attitude; ability to excel in a small team and start-up environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing and marketing events
  • Keen attention to detail and follow-through, witrh exceptional organizational skills
  • Poise and maturity, the ability to handle pressure and to take and give constructive feedback
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing
  • B.A. or equivalent with strong academic record and some prior employment experience in an administrative or operations-related role (internship experience will be considered)
  • Familiarity with Squarespace and Salesforce (or other CRM) platforms preferred
